"On its raucous 2008 outing, ROCK THE REBEL/METAL THE DEVIL, the Danish ensemble Volbeat mixes metal with a melodic 1960s rock-&-roll influence. Frontman Michael Paulson sounds like a fusion of late-era Elvis and early Misfits Glenn Danzig, particularly on the propulsive ""Radio Girl,"" making for one of the most enjoyable European metal releases of the year."
This Danish band formed in October 2001 by Michael Poulsen. Their musical style can be described as a combination of Hard Hitting Metallic Rock'n'roll with a touch of the sixties melodic tunes and Elvis. Their debut album "The Strength/The Sound/The Songs" from October 2005 put the band on the map immediately with rave reviews almost everywhere. Their live performances (Roskilde Festival, Rock Hard Festival etc. as well as the many club shows) built the band a loyal and constantly growing army of followers.

Sony Music Special Products' Rebel Rock contains ten Southern rock, blues-rock and rebel country hits from the Columbia/Epic vaults (with the exception of one or two cuts licensed from Arista Records). Since the resulting disc runs from the mid-'70s to the mid-'80s, it's a little uneven -- the Fabulous Thunderbirds' Teflon-slick "Tuff Enuff" and Gregg Allman's Reagan-era anthem "I'm No Angel" don't necessarily jibe with grittier '70s fare -- but there are no outright dogs anywhere on the disc, which may
