I picked this nice complete set up some time ago mainly because it is in excellent condition, has a nice hand painted Nippon style, and is a complete set for six. There are absolutely no problems with any of the pieces that I can find and I believe these were made in the forties. The scene has nice autumn like colors around a good looking windmill and shed. From the late 1940's, this adorable little set was purchased as a Honeymoon souvenir! Made in Japan, the pieces are in excellent condition. Only the teacup's rim has some wear and gold paint loss. Great kitschy set for any souvenir collector or can be used in a tile\/art project. I was going to use it in a mosaic, but didn't have the heart to break them apart.

This vintage Kyoto Ware Koro dates to mid 20th century portion of the Showa period. Beautiful glazed cream color with a simple design of flowers and leaves hand painted on a handmade piece. In Japan koro are most often made for the tea ceremony and shrine, in Kyoto pottery and porcelain made for the tea ceremony is the most prosperous with a history that dates hundreds of years.
