I got this piece out of a farmhouse where the woman who was easily in her 80's claimed it was her mom's pie baking dish and that she also used to make baked beans in it! The bottom has USA in the center of it. USA is not a company name, not a brand name, not a manufacturer! There is no such thing as a USA Pottery Co.! Many early American pottery companies started marking their pottery with the USA mark around WW1 in order to distinguish it from foreign imports. Prior to WW1, most American pottery was

This vintage German vase has a dainty look with its buttery yellow color - soft 'furlike' drip effects continue the theme. What a lovely vessel for your prized posies! Bands of gold surround the mouth and base. It is marked '81' in gold on the bottom. The word 'Germany' is obscured by the brown glaze. This is certainly a German made vase (late 1940s). It has a distinctly modern (mid century) shape and clean lines. It stands 3-1/2 inches (8.5 cm) tall, and is 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter across the bottom
