This is a old match safe. It has the initials "T S" or "F S" marked on one side. It is also marked "G SILVER" on the inside edge. This type of match holder probably belonged to a "working man", since G Silver is not actually silver but a nickle product. There are some minor dents, after all this was carried in a pocket. This Art Deco sterling silver match holder, Circa 1920's or earlier, is marked sterling, was made in the USA, and manufactured by the Elgin AM Mfg. Co, who started in business in 1887. This is a c. 1895 Guilloche' match safe with enameling on the top, front and two ends, the bottom is silver and the hinge edge has the striker. Its approximately 1 7/8 x 1 1/8 inches and has Austrian 900 silver marks. Its in excellent condition, the enameling is all original and damage free.

Offered for sale is this super antique Art Nouveau solid silver vesta with flowers. The top rim is marked with, what looks to be the French silver weevil mark and 800, slightly lower than sterling but standard for France and many European countries. This measures 1 3/4 inches by 1 1/4 inches wide and is in generally good condition with normal use and the corners / edges do have dents. The spring is good. There are etched initials to one side.

Fabulous, vintage match holder that was given, "Compliments of Eugene Malloy, 1909, Chicago". There are no marks. The clover shaped tray is attached to the match holder, flanked by a cherub that looks like he once held a flute. This is a good size, and heavy, quality made piece. The tray measures a little over 4 by 4 inches, and it is about 3 inches tall, to the top of the cherub's head. There is minor pitting on the surface of the tray. A vintage brass and silver match holder made in England circa 1900 with an ornate, raised design. Matches were contained within the watertight case, and when needed were removed to be ignited by the striker at the base of the case.
Antique silver vesta (matchsafe)2" tall and engraved 'Rev R Gray'on the front which is kind of a nice touch. It is beautifully engraved all round and in lovely condition and the lid snaps shut fine. It's hallmarked for Birmingham 1897 with themaker's mark for Samuel M Levi . As I'm sure you know, these were originally used for matches and worn on a watchchain but today they are perfect as a nice safe way to carry pills or other small items.
