English White China Ironstone Covered Sauce Tureen This is one of two white ironstone sauce tureens I purchased recently. This lovely small sauce tureen was made by John Maddock and sons circa 1906. I do not know the name of this pattern but must say it is a lovely representation of chains and bars. It is a semi porcelain piece so a bit more delicate than the older white ironstone. A very early English Creamware Sauce Tureen, c. 1800-1810, decorated with stylized initials (I believe them to be ADW ) surrounded by a flowery wreath. There is brown enamel edging and highlights on the finial and the area of the lid under the finial is decorated with stylized leaves or fruit in shades of brown. We just have the tureen base and lid here: no undertray or ladle. The tureen is about 4 high to the top of the finial/lid handle, and it is about 7 from side handle to side handle. No maker s marks.
