Great quality with super fine hand painted birds and tree with Sevres celeste blue body. The gilt is highlighted and detailed as I hope the photographs show. A fantastic example that is great for display. Measures about 11 1/4" long by about 8 1/8" wide. Some gilt wear to scallops as shown on back edge. It looks like there is one teeny gilt over fleck to the edge as shown from front and back, otherwise excellent. This is in the Sevres style and dates to early 19c. It is possibly Sevres porcelain, but

This impressive vase stands 11 1/2" high and is about 7 1/2" across the widest area. It is hand painted in Pickard's rarely seen BORDURE ANTIQUE pattern and is signed HESS (Hessler, Robert). Hessler was associated with Pickard Studio in Chicago between 1898-1912. The bright cobalt band and the black and white pattern create a stark contrast to the etched gold glaze. The white bird motif always reminded me of ancient hieroglyphics. This unmarked blank carries Pickard Studio decorating mark 5 (1905-1910). The

Even though bat printing was routinely used by Minton as an underlay for hand painting throughout the 19C I can
