Antique English Staffordshire pottery (glazed earthenware) nautilus shell form spoon warmer. The piece features a cream glaze and was manufactured by Ridgway, Sparks & Ridgway at the Bedford Works in Shelton, Hanley between 1873 and 1879. The underside is marked/impressed with "R S R" tied knot mark and pattern/date marks "8 A". Popularized during the Victorian era, spoon warmers such as this were used to keep silver spoons warm.
