This English sterling silver watch fob is hallmarked for Chester(3 wheat sheaves), lion passant, for sterling silver, N in cartouche(1938) and makers mark JS. The reverse is plain and the hallmark is located under the bale at the top of the fob. I have left the patina as found. The condition is excellent with age related wear and use. Measurement; 1 1/2" top of bale to end tip of fob

Watch fobs like this one were made in the 18th century so that a man could easily grab his watch from the vest pocket where it was kept. Personal mementos, tools or wax seals were often added to personalize the fob. This one had a damaged pendant which I covered with a vintage sterling silver and turquoise earring. I then added a large turquoise bead, chain and toggle clasp to make a bracelet Definitely a conversation piece! Overall length is 8" and is comfortable on an average wrist. Can be shortened.
