A token of my love; such sweet words. Personalized coins were given as a token of love to a sweetheart, as a promise, a remembrance, an expression of love, in the US, during the mid to late 1800’s. These cherished gifts were embellished with initials, names, and sometimes scenes. Unique and as individual as the person giving it, the face of the coin was smoothed down and then engraved by hand. All different denominations of coins were used, although in the US, the Liberty seated dime was the most popular.
