This lovely pottery piece has a pleasing modernist form. Fantastic bulb bottom and pinched neck.It measures 6 1/2" in height and 3 1/2" in diameter. The opening diameter at the top is 3/4".The glaze was rather tricky to capture on film, it is a high gloss dark emerald green. Pic 4 is closer to its actual color. A handmade, wheel thrown stoneware vase, partially glazed with a shino and fired in a wood burning kiln to highest stoneware range. The unglazed part of the vase was richly decorated by ash, light green-yellow in color, on the side that faced a firebox and a warm russet to brown natural gloss on its protected side. This is a lovely vintage Hornsea Pottery bud vase in the cute shape of a log with a fawn in front. Measures approx. 4.5" long at the base and 2" wide at the centre of the base, whilst the fawn is 1.5" tall. In good vintage condition with some wear and, as you might expect with any vintage item a few small imperfections. There is a bit of crazing as well as a few minor manufacturing flaws. The creamy white glaze breaks to a warm honey color giving it an early american feel. This well-made vase is unmarked, but it has the style and quality that I have seen in many Mid-Century pieces. The lizard is amazingly lifelike and the glaze and shading on the vase are much like Teco, Frankoma, and Grueby pottery. This blue ceramic flower vase is made of white stoneware clay and is wheel thrown in my own studio. It is glazed in a black glaze with a blue glaze layered on the body of the vase. The neck is left black. It was fired to cone 6 in an oxidation environment. It measures 5.5 inches high and 4.5 inches across.
