Hand thrown and decorated, here is a great piece of Danish Art Pottery. This round tile plaque has a raised edge which is pierced at the top to accomodate a macrame hanger. The glazes are textured and in shades of earthtones, and the image appears to be of two kissing angelfish. The back has the hand incised signature for that artist, Rusa. It is in excellent condition.
A happy couple rides a stylized horse while a chubby little bird perches on the tail. Covered in the crackled glasslike glaze colors of gold, brown and Persian blue and orange, it would make a great statement in your Mid Century Modern interior. A designer signature is in the lower right that reads Simou. The back has the impressed mark for the company. It has a small rub to the cuenca wall on the flower in the upper left, and a tiny flake off the back edge.
very nice and large Amphora vase signed on the base. The Danish Art pottery firm Ipsen, which was established in 1843 at Bornholm,9 by Peter Erasmus Ipsen. The factory was carried on by the widow of Ipsen so the items were therefore labeled from "The widow of Ipsen". The trademark monogram beneath the base is a Royal Crown and the Initials P & E. This is an absolutely fabulous Rare Mid Century Danish Modernist Pottery Figural Vase IN EXCELLENT CONDITION font> This wonderful vase is a genuine piece of fine Scandanavian art pottery and dates to the mid 20th century. Two bird face each other on this large wall tile by Soholm. The gunmetal black and persian bluse glaze gives it an early 60's look. The condition is very good, it has a shallow drying line in the center of the back near the right side. Not Structural and doesn't show on the front.
