VINTAGE MATT WHITE VASE 1940s COLLECTABLE POTTERY 6 INCHES EMBOSSED FLOWERS

This is a wonderful matt white pottery vase, that is marked USA on the bottom. It is 6" high by 5-1/4" wide across the fan style opening. No stains on the inside, but I do see a tiny pin head light blue stain on the side, might be ink, I did not try to remove. No hairlines or chips. Does not look like it was ever used. The flowers look to be either tulips or iris.

Vase-Pink, Blue, Green Rainbow of Colors

This large vase was a real surprise when it came out of the kiln. I never expected to see that soft pink color up near the rim. It's amazing what soda will do to a glaze in a wood firing. The crystal matte glaze combined with oribe and a blue wash to spread a rainbow of color that is totally spectacular. It was wheel thrown with porcelain then altered and fired in a reduction wood kiln with soda added. It stands 8" tall and is 6" wide. The outside surface features a raised design of swirls and dots that was drawn on free-hand with slip (clay with a liquid consistency).
