The silver certificates come in an attractive presentation folder, which tells a short story about the collection. The $1 Silver Certificate was only made in two years - 1935 and 1957. Each of these notes was redeemable for one-ounce silver at any US Bank, but on June 24, 1968 the US Treasury stopped the practice of redeeming certificates with 1 ounce of silver.
