2006 Yalumba 'Hand Picked' Shiraz Viognier
Yalumba is Australia's oldest family-owned winery. The winery was founded in 1849 by English brewer Samuel Smith. Today, the fifth generation, brothers Robert Hill and Sam Smith, runs this Barossa Valley estate. Yalumba crushes and ferments together Shiraz and Viognier grapes, and in this vintage, for the first time added Viognier skins to select Shiraz batches for more aromatic complexity. This Australian red has great balance, with loads of ripe cherry, plum, and a touch of blueberry.
