A Pinot Noir wine from California in USA. 2006 Lynmar Pinot Noir Quail Hill Vineyard 750ml
The Lynmar Estate first planted Chardonnay vines in the cool Russian River Valley in 1971. In this vintage their Chardonnay grapes were aged in stainless stell tanks and 60 gallon French oak barrels. The wine shows a great deal of refinement. It has aromatics of citrus and green apple and a subtle minerality. Enjoy flavors of lemon custard, pear, and green apple with hints of roasted nuts and spicy oak.
The 2006 growing season was particularly challenging in the Russian River Valley. Higher humidity during the summer months resulted in greater mildew pressure across the appellation, exacerbated by weather during harvest that provided perfect growing conditions for botrytis, or noble rot.' Luckily Pinot Noir is an early ripening variety and our vineyard crew did everything right this year. Numerous extra 'passes' in our vineyards ensured the area around grape clusters had good air flow and that

TASTING NOTESWhile philosophically related to the 2003 Russian River Valley bottling, the 2005 shows a marked increase in complexity and richness. Pure high-toned notes of pear blossom, Fuji apple and lemon curd are evident in the aromas, overlaying hints of anise, nutmeg, wet stone and pencil shavings. Oak is present but restrained, serving its proper supporting role. These flavors are reinforced on the palate, where white peach and apricot are at the forefront, complemented by hazelnut and a hint of

Enticing aromas of lemon zest, ripe Gravenstein apple, and fresh brioche are accented by hints of orange blossom and rosewater...a flinty band of minerality that adds depth and interest. The texture, crisp and bracing upon release, has more in common with an appellation-level Chablis, than with your typical California Chardonnay. The acidity of this vintage will serve this wine well, not only in pairing with food, but also for those who choose to cellar it for a short period. Drink now through 2006. -
